Emmanuel Adebayor’s agent claims that Italian side AC Milan could no longer afford to buy his client, having been strongly linked with the club before he chose to join Man City.

Adebayor was linked with a £30 million move to the San Siro before heading to Eastlands for slightly less and Milan have again been reported to be keeping tabs on the striker.

However, Stephane Courbis claims that the player is now out of the reach of Milan.

“The player has signed a five-year contract with Manchester City and was an expensive purchase,” he told Tuttomercato. “He has a high wages that do not fall within the parameters of AC Milan, moreover, he is dong quite well [in Manchester]. The trains only pass in football once, Adebayor was close to Milan two years ago, but not any more.

“Manchester City paid almost ¬28 million, they do not intend to sell him and these days Milan are not interested in players that cost that much.

“They are trying to sign players on a free [transfer] or within specific figures. This hypothesis [Adebayor to Milan] is impossible.”

Ronaldinho was born in city of Porto Alegre, capital of the Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil. His mother, Dona Miguelina, is a former salesperson who studied to become a nurse. His father, João, was a shipyard worker and footballer for local club Esporte Clube Cruzeiro (not to be confused with Cruzeiro EC). He suffered a fatal heart attack in the family swimming pool when Ronaldinho was eight. After Ronaldinho’s older brother, Roberto, signed with Grêmio, the family moved to a home in the more affluent Guarujá section of Porto Alegre, which was a gift from Grêmio to convince Roberto to stay at the club. Roberto’s career was ultimately cut short by injury.

Ronaldinho’s football skills began to blossom at an early age, and he was first given the nickname Ronaldinho because he was often the youngest and the smallest player in youth club matches. He developed an interest in futsal and beach football, which later expanded to organized football. His first brush with the media came at the age of thirteen, when he scored all 23 goals in a 23-0 victory against a local team. Ronaldinho was identified as a rising star at the 1997 U-17 World Championship in Egypt, in which he scored two goals on penalty kicks.

Today, Roberto acts as Ronaldinho’s manager, while his sister, Deisi, works as his press coordinator. Ronaldinho became a father for the first time on 25 February 2005, after Brazilian dancer Janaína Mendes gave birth to their son, who was named João after Ronaldinho’s late father.

Wolfsburg coach Lorenz Gunther Kostner has called upon star striker Edin Dzeko to end speculation about a summer move to Chelsea or Manchester City by committing his future to the club.

Last season the Bosnia striker scored 26 goals in 29 league starts to help fire Wolfsburg to their first Bundesliga title in history. The 24-year-old pledged his future to the Wolves last summer by signing a new contract and rejecting overtures from Serie A giants AC Milan.

The striker has repaid the faith shown in him by the German side by scoring 18 league goals to help rescue Wolfsburg’s faltering league campaign.

Rumours of a summer transfer to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City have surfaced recently, and Dzeko has said he would be keen to join a Premier League side at the end of the season. Kostner admits he is unsure whether Dzeko will stay at the Volkswagen Arena, but he admits he is desperate for the striker to remain at the club.

“Edin Dzeko will finish the season a Wolfsburg player, that’s for definite, whatever happens after that is down to rumours,” said Kostner.

“Edin Dzeko saying he will stay would be an absolutely huge sign for us. I can’t tell you how important that would be for us, but that’s neither here nor there. Right now we have to wait to see what happens in May.

“As his manager I can’t have much influence on whether he stays or not. All I can say at the moment is that he is on absolute top form. He’s really firing on all cylinders. He’s doing fantastic.”

Dzeko will line up alongside his Brazilian counterpart Grafite against the Cottagers on Thursday as they look to overturn a 2-1 deficit from last week’s first leg at Craven Cottage.

Fulham had looked to be coasting towards their first Europa League semi-final after opening the scoring courtesy of goals from Bobby Zamora and Damien Duff. Alexander Madlung’s last minute header gave the German side a vital away goal though and Kostner has called on his team to give their all to set up a last four tie with either Hamburg or Standard Liege.

“Before the game in Fulham I said that we’d need two excellent performances to get through,” the 58-year-old said. “We didn’t give them two weak goals in the first leg but we made life easier for them by not concentrating for the two goals.

“Madlung’s goal gives us a good chance now but what we need to do is to be determined. We have to have the will, be determined to give an absolutely excellent performance.

“We need everyone in this club, including the fans, to give a performance for 90 minutes, maybe longer and that’s the way we’ll get through to the semi finals.”

Kostner’s side warmed up for the game with an emphatic 4-0 win over Hoffenheim to move up to ninth in the Bundesliga. The Wolfsburg manager has been boosted by the news that captain Josue and key defender Madlung should be fit for tomorrow’s clash after overcoming hamstring injuries.

Fulham’s 2-1 win over Wigan on Sunday was their first since February but Kostner has warned against taking the Londoners too lightly. “We can’t go hell for leather tomorrow,” said Kostner.

“Fulham are a compact dangerous team who are strong in defence and have big guys up front so that provides us with a dangerous situation.”

Arguably Fulham’s most famous fan, Hugh Grant, is reported to be attending Thursday night’s match but Wolfsburg midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic has warned the actor that his trip to Lower Saxony may turn out to be an unhappy one.

“I’ve only just heard that he’s a Fulham fan,” said the 27-year-old, who set up Madlung’s crucial goal last week. “Of course he’s welcome to come to the game but come the final whistle he won’t have much to laugh about.”

AC Milan’s Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato will turn down any approach by Chelsea, according to his agent.

The 20 year-old is in his third season at the San Siro, having signed from Brazilian side Internacional. He is enjoying a good campaign with AC Milan , having scored 14 goals in 28 appearances so far. Pato averages one goal every two games during his entire AC Milan career and is contracted to the Italian giants until 2014.

There had been rumours that Pato was open to leaving AC Milan , with Premier League leaders Chelsea heading the queue of interested clubs.

However, Pato’s agent Gilmar Veloz has categorically rejected any talk of the striker joining Chelsea or leaving the San Siro at all.

Veloz said, “Chelsea? These are only market rumours. There is nothing true. He has a deal with Milan and he feels good in Milan.”

Pato has scored one goal in six games for the Brazil national team and will hope to be included in coach Dunga’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.
