33 year-old Guti has spent 15 years at Real Madrid but told Madrid radio station ‘Ona Madrid’ that this weekend’s ‘Classico’ against Barcelona will be his last.

Guti said, “This will probably be my last Classico. At the moment, there is no possibility of another. I have one more year (on his contract) but hopefully will reach an understanding. Surely they will understand, my choice is to leave and go.”

Looking towards his future, Guti predicts that he has a further two years left to play and would like to spend those years in England or Italy, leaving the door open for a move to Tottenham who have recently been linked to the Spaniard.

Guti continued, “I have two more years…The idea is to go to England, Italy or an Arab country.”

Harry Redknapp is reportedly interested in bolstering his squad with Guti ’s vast experience, which may prove invaluable particularly if Tottenham qualify for the Champions League.

Lionel Messi’s exquisite finish set Barcelona on their way to a potentially decisive 2-0 win at Real Madrid on Saturday to lift the champions three points clear of their arch-rivals at the top of La Liga.

After his brilliant four-goal Champions League haul against Arsenal on Tuesday, the Argentina forward struck in the 33rd minute at the Bernabeu before Pedro doubled the visitors’ lead in the 56th with a clinical left-foot strike.

Both goals were created by Barca’s Spain midfielder Xavi, the first when he chipped the ball to Messi over the Real defence and the second when he sent Pedro clear to finish low beyond Iker Casillas.

La Liga top scorer Messi twice came close to adding to his 27 goals of the campaign and Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes was rarely troubled as Real struggled against the European champions’ slick passing game.

The victory puts Barca on 80 points with seven matches left and leaves the big-spending Madrid club, who have 77 points, facing a season without silverware after their exits from the Champions League and King’s Cup.

BORDEAUX, France — Olympique Lyon reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time despite losing 1-0 at French rivals Girondins Bordeaux on Wednesday.

Ligue 1 champions Bordeaux had only an outside chance of qualifying after going down 3-1 in Lyon last week but Morocco striker Marouane Chamakh kept their hopes alive by scoring from close range just before the break.

Lyon, though, controlled much of a highly-tactical affair that was not as exciting as the first leg to triumph 3-2 on aggregate and set up a meeting with Bayern Munich who knocked out Manchester United.

The first chance for Lyon came from a long-range free kick by Brazilian winger Michel Bastos that went just wide on 10 minutes.

The visitors showed more initiative up front in the opening stages and three minutes later lone striker Bafetimbi Gomis headed over from a corner.

Bordeaux looked nervous at first and did not threaten until playmaker Yoann Gourcuff nodded over in the 18th minute.

Chamakh volleyed wide from a Benoit Tremoulinas cross before Bordeaux rattled the bar with a powerful 30-metre shot from Alou Diarra.

Seconds later a low cross by Tremoulinas took a deflection and Chamakh pounced to score from close range.

Bordeaux had most of the possession in the second half but rarely looked like grabbing a second goal.

The home fans shouted for a penalty after a challenge on Chamakh from Brazilian defender Cris but the referee waved play on.

Bordeaux then gave the visitors a scare in the dying moments when a header by Brazilian midfielder Wendel forced a brilliant save from France keeper Hugo Lloris.

MLS chiefs have targeted Vieira among a wish list of veterans they want to tempt across the Atlantic.

But the 33-year-old, who joined City from Inter Milan in the January transfer window, is not ready to line up against the likes of LA Galaxy star attraction David Beckham.

‘There are great opportunities for me to stay another year at Manchester City,’ said Vieira.

City can take up the option of another season with the France international, but indifferent performances could lead them to look again at the likes of Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago.

Vieira is not the only former Arsenal player in the Americans’ sights. Thierry Henry is expected to sign for the New York Red Bulls, while Robert Pires could move at the end of his Villarreal contract this summer.

Jens Lehmann and Real Madrid star Raul have also been linked with a lucrative career-ending pay days.
